Graduating from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2012, David Laport (1986) showcased his wind-blown collection. Taken by his ingenuity in technique and strength of concept, he gained extensive media coverage, which kick-started his career. The David Laport brand aesthetic is one of modern classic silhouettes, which contemporize the female form. This means that the cut and fit of a garment takes centre stage and this form-following approach lends itself very well to bespoke tailoring. Specializing in women’s wear, Laport draws inspiration from experimental female silhouettes.
This July Dutch designer David Laport won the prestigious European Woolmark Prize in Milan, a precious moment in his career & boost for the upcoming International Woolmark Prize competition January 2018. Capturing movement is one of the main sources of inspiration for the designer, also for his SS18 collection. International celebrities such as Solange Knowles, SIA and Jessie J have worn his Haute Couture designs for events such as the MET Gala & performances.
