"I got on this crazy rollercoaster ride and I don’t want to get off, not even considering my fear of heights!"
– Tess van Zalinge

Graduating from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute in 2012, Tess van Zalinge (1989) showcased her ‘The same old lines’ collection. Taken by her aesthetic in making fashion with lingerie without loosing the essence of it; functionality and sensuality, she gained extensive media coverage, which kick-started her career.

The designer label Tess van Zalinge aesthetic is one of modern Dutch silhouettes, which contemporize the female form. This means that the cut and fit of her collections takes a centre stage and this approach lends itself very well to bespoke tailoring. Van Zalinge draws inspiration from her roots and especially from Dutch crafts, Dutch costume wear and Dutch design. These are often structured in shape, yet light and delicate into detail. Her colour palette and use of prints keeps the overall image brisk, innovative but still with an ode to Dutch heritage.

Tess van Zalinge expaned her horizons by doing a variety of partnerships. She collaborated with MOAM voor HEMA, Royal Delft and Hudson’s bay for example. Having done three Amsterdam Fashion Week shows, her first self-organized show at the Dutch Costume Museum, multiple collaborations and to keep in mind her designer label launched only just yet in January 2016, you could say Tess van Zalinge has considerable been on the rise.

In her beautiful atelier in the centre of Amsterdam she is consequently working on fresh collaborations, inspiring partnerships and new collections.
