Sandra Keja Planken is an Amsterdam-based interior designer who founded
Studio Noun 10 years ago. With “The Wonder Room” collection, she embarks
on a new adventure by imagining visual eye candy that allows us to lose
ourselves and dream. It’s a playful world for you to live in, a room of wonders
with an unexpected palette of colours and natural materials.
In this contemporary and collective series, tactile colouring, patterns and
amorphous shapes are born from the artist’s mind. She combines her different
skills with local craftsmanship and materials into a “more is more” attitude, all
with a new modernistic and absurd vibe. Her personal stories reflect all you see
and feel in this room.
“The Wonder Room” shows Sandra’s bespoke interior design and product vision
with these new patterns and shapes. Each facet is represented by organic forms.
Her doodles and small paintings transform into a digital universe of prints, wall
rugs, upholstery, wallpapers, lamps, side tables and pillows. Everything is
produced handmade, locally and sustainably.
The main piece is a shape-shifting wall rug called “The Lips”. Its craftmanship
takes inspiration from traditional eucalyptus wool hand-tufting. You can morph
this rug into your own bespoke size and shape. You almost feel like you are
being kissed by this wonderful landscape when walking through the height
and versatility of the wool.
