David Laport designs costumes for National Opera & Ballet

We’re thrilled about the latest collaboration of David Laport,
one of our very own X BANK designers. David has designed costumes
for the Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s new creations from choreographer
Peter Lueng. The debut performance took place on the first of June
for the International Young Patrons Gala.

Laport and Lueng used the ‘poetry of music, text, movement and sculptural design’ to express the emotions of the soprano and ballet dancers. David Laport, known for his weightless dresses, made all the material for the costumes by hand.

The International Young Patrons Gala is for young professionals with a passion for art and culture. The second edition of this gala featured performances by the Dutch National Ballet and the Dutch National Opera. In addition, guests were able to see a few opera and ballet classics on stage, including Swan Lake and Tristan + Isolde. The sold-out event was hosted by actress Anna Drijver.
