Last Thursday, we proudly opened our latest exhibition
Re-designing Nature in collaboration with Uncoated and
curated by Josephine de Fijter. The exhibit is in collaboration with
Dutch photographers Lana Prins, Robert Peek and Maarten Rots.
This exhibition will be on view at X BANK until 14 March 2019.
About “Re-designing Nature”
As humans, our interaction with nature is deeply beneficial for our well-being, especially in reducing anger,
fear and loss of pain. Nature deprivation is caused by increasing time spent in front of televisions and computers.
Due to technological enhancements, the environments we live in are changing rapidly. 69% of the global population
is projected to live in urban areas by 2050. This exhibition researches how we as humans investigate, alter
and shape our new habitat. Every photographer represents one of the pillars with their work.
About Uncoated
“The surface of photographic paper is strangely uniform and resistant. The silver image seems to be on the
surface or even on top of it, floating and dislocated from its base. The coating is the final technical process that
divides the ‘core’ storyline of the photo with a varnish that finishes the photo to be shown.”
Uncoated consists of a studio and a platform. Uncoated Studio consults art-related businesses on how to
connect with art enthusiasts by designing art experiences both online and offline.
Uncoated Platform is a publishing house that showcases contemporary photography. By featuring artists
on a daily basis, the platform aims to bring artists’ stories forward and make photography more accessible to all.
